چکیده

The activity and capacity (activity tissue weight) of digestive carbohydrases (total carbohydrase, aglucosidase, a-amylase) was examined in vitro under a range of (more realistic) incubation temperatures (5, 18 and 25 1C) and pH (7.6) more likely to be encountered during rearing, along the digestive tract of important teleost species for aquaculture (Dicentrarchus labrax, Sparus aurata, Oreochromis aureus, Oncorhynchus mykiss and Salmo salar). Results indicate, among other things, an overestimation of digestive carbohydrase levels when performing assays at 37 1C, a di¡erent e¡ect of temperature on digestive enzyme performance along the digestive tract of examined species, and the increased importance of a-glucosidase towards carbohydrate digestion. Implications regarding the capacity of each species for carbohydrate digestion in nature, as well as feed manufacturing, are discussed.

Effect of non-fiber carbohydrates on in vitro first order kinetics disappearance of cellulose

An in vitro experiment was conducted to determine the effect of supplemental non-fiber carbohydrate(NFC) on the disappearance kinetics of cellulose (Ce) by mixed ruminal microorganisms. Non-supplementedor NFC supplemented cellulose (467 mg NFC/g cellulose as sucrose (CeSu) or starch (CeSt) or a 1:1 mixtureof sucrose + starch (CeSuSt)) were incubated for 24, 48, and 96 h at 39°C. After each incu...

Digestion kinetics of carbohydrate fractions of citrus by-products

The present experiment was carried out to determine the digestion kinetics of carbohydrate fractions of citrus by-products. Grapefruit pulp (GP), lemon pulp (LE), lime pulp (LI) and orange pulp (OP) were the test feed. Digestion kinetic of whole citrus by-products and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) fraction and acid detergent fiber (ADF) fractions of citrus by-products were measured using the <e...

Effect of temperature on clearance rate, daily ration and digestion time of Mnemiopsis leidyi from the southern Caspian Sea

The effect of temperature on the main feeding parameters of Mnemiopsis leidyi from the southern Caspian Sea was studied in 2002. The clearance rates and daily rations were estimated from laboratory experiments in a wide range of temperatures from 12 to 27 ?C for M. leidyi of 12?17 mm in length. Clearance rate values changed from 52.5 to 107.3 ml ind-1 h-1. The coefficient Q10 in temperature 12 ...

Identification of the most important environmental and management factors affecting on Salmo trutta caspius Aquaculture duration

The native species of Caspian brown trout (Salmo trutta caspius, Kessler1877) is an important candidate for introducing to the aquaculture industry because of carcass quality and marketing in Iran. In introducing any species, it is necessary to complete the domestication stages. The most important advantages of domestication are controlling the costs and the biological and non-biological factor...

Teleost microbiomes: the state of the art in their characterization, manipulation and importance in aquaculture and fisheries

Indigenous microbiota play a critical role in the lives of their vertebrate hosts. In human and mouse models it is increasingly clear that innate and adaptive immunity develop in close concert with the commensal microbiome. Furthermore, several aspects of digestion and nutrient metabolism are governed by intestinal microbiota. Research on teleosts has responded relatively slowly to the introduc...
